But before you head outdoors in our sweltering Tennessee summer, our team at Solutions Pharmacy wants to offer some tips on summer safety. Each day, ask yourself these questions:

Did You Pack Your Sunscreen?

Regardless of whether the weather forecast calls for sunny skies or rainy days, you need to make applying sunscreen a habit. Because, yes, even it’s cloudy, you can still get a sunburn.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends applying sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to all exposed skin at least a half hour before heading outdoors. If you’re outside for longer than two hours or if you’re sweating or swimming, you’ll need to reapply.

Did You Exercise Today?

Even in the summer months, you need to make getting a workout in a habit. However, now that it is summer, you can take advantage of the local watering holes for a workout while the kids play in the pool!

You might also take a walk around Coolidge Park, or even pack a picnic and play a game of frisbee! Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. You can make it fun, and make it a part of a day with the kiddos!

What’s Up With the Water?

Not only do you need to make sure you are sipping on water throughout the day to stay hydrated, but you also need to practice water safety when around water this summer.

No matter how well your child can swim, it’s important that he or she always be supervised by an adult. And beyond that, it’s important that the adult is fully paying attention to the swimming child.
